Our Most Asked Newborn Photography Questions:

When should I book my newborn photo session?

It's best to reserve your Perfectly Imperfect Photography newborn session while you're still pregnant, ideally during the second trimester.

Newborns are typically photographed within the first 2-4 weeks after birth when they are still sleepy and molded into those wonderful newborn poses.

Do not wait until the end of your pregnancy or when baby arrives to schedule a session as we will likely not have a spot available. We have sadly had to turn away numerous Moms due to our full schedule.

We suggest you book us tentatively 5-10 days after your due date and we will reschedule as needed, since babies are known to be fashionably early or late. We are careful to block out time for rescheduling newborns, so as long as you are on our calendar, you will be guaranteed a spot no matter when your baby arrives.

Please include your due date in the additional information section when booking.

What does my session include?

All sessions include the session fee, newborn props, outfits and wraps. You will receive high resolution digital images with print rights, and a mobile gallery to install on your phone. Some packages include a custom photo box with 4x6 prints of the photo proofs selected, and upgraded packages include the photo box as well as 3 mini accordion books.

How long does a typical newborn session take?

Plan for your newborn's photoshoot at our Cedar Park studio to take 2-4 hours. We go at your baby's pace, allowing time for feedings, soothing, and getting them settled to capture all those dreamy curled up poses.

Can siblings join the newborn session?

Absolutely! We love incorporating siblings for some of the newborn portraits. Having siblings present for a short portion helps capture the newborn's size and your growing family's bond.

Will our package include outfits and props?

For classic newborn portraits, most parents choose to have their baby photographed in the nude or wearing only a diaper cover or swaddle wrap. However, many parents prefer cute little outfits. We provide all newborn photoshoot accessories like wraps, headbands, hats, outfits and props at our Cedar Park studio. You are not required to bring anything for a newborn Session.

You will receive a questionnaire ahead of time so that I know what your style and preference wishes are. If you have a sentimental item you wanted to bring, we can incorporate that into the session.

Do you offer in-home sessions for newborn photography?

Currently we are limited on travel sessions, but if it is something you strongly prefer, send us a message. We can quote you with a in-home fee add on.

Can I change my package on the day of the shoot?

You may upgrade your package at any time, but you may not downgrade your package. I only plan sessions for the package selected, so if you are upgrading to a package that includes family shots, the sooner I know the better, since I need to set up extra sets for the family photos.

Do I have to order prints through you?

No. You will receive high resolution digital images with print rights, that you may print where you choose, however, I cannot guarantee quality or color accuracy unless you print through my gallery vendor.

What qualifications do you have for newborn safety?

First, I am a mother of 5 adult children and will be welcoming my third grand child soon. Thus, I have years of experience handling newborns.

With that said, newborn posing takes special training and research on how to ensure safety.

There are currently no regulations on newborn photography, which unfortunately means that anyone can pick up a camera and call themselves a newborn photographer.

At Perfectly Imperfect Photography, ensuring the safety of newborns is my highest priority during every photoshoot. I have extensive training in newborn posing and safety from renowned newborn photographers as well as follow expert guidelines from medical sources.

My Cedar Park studio is specially outfitted with professional newborn equipment like posing beanbags, buckets, flokati rugs and backdrops to create beautiful yet safe portraits in controlled conditions.

With specialized newborn photography training, rigorous safety practices, and years of experience, you can feel at ease knowing I'll capture timeless heirloom artwork of your new baby while treating them with the utmost care and professionalism.
